Notre démarche reposera sur un argumentaire élaboré à partir de travaux pluridisciplinaires, éclairant la nature intersectionnelle de la figure de fanm poto-mitan et ses potentielles conséquences négatives sur la santé mentale des femmes. Cette contribution théorique s’inscrit dans une démarche engagée de lutte contre les injustices épistémiques et la marginalisation (trop) commune des populations Afro-descendantes, notamment, caribéennes dans les recherches en psychologie. By combining the critical paradigm with perspectives from community psychology and feminism, this article offers an analysis of the intersectional origins of the imperative of strength inherent to the figure of the famn poto-mitan, embodying the pivotal role of women in the household and Creole communities. Our approach relies on a reasoned argumentation drawn from multidisciplinary studies, shedding light on the intersectional nature of the fanm poto-mitan figure and its potential negative consequences on mental health.
